MCM credenza.
Since we moved in, K and I have always wanted a credenza in our dining room, under the wall of windows. Something Mid Century Modern. Not a knockoff or replication MCM, but something legit from the 1960s. Like the credenza we found at a random salvage place and turned into a bathroom vanity in our old house.
We moved in five years ago. Earlier this year, we finally found one.
We like our strategy. Since we're both a) pretty particular, b) kind of thrifty, and (maybe most importantly) c) patient, it took us this long to find the right piece. A really cool lady in Cashmere had listed it on Marketplace. K spotted the ad.
So one Friday morning while S was in school, the three of us hopped in the van for the fifteen-minute jaunt to her place to pick it up. It's not quite as nice as that Drexel piece with its dovetailed joinery and solid walnut, but it's close. It's from that era, is solid wood, and looks really nice in the space.
The only thing I did was replaced all the drawer slides with ones that soft-closed. The patina is perfect. Not at all new and still beautiful. There's something to be said about imperfections, after all.
The bouquet is the Lego® Wildflower Bouquet, of course. The book is from the legendary photographer Brad Washburn. There's a recent film that is centered around his groundbreaking aerial mountain photography on Amazon called The Sanctity of Space. It's worth a watch.
