Goodwill, as anyone knows, is all about timing and luck. The more often you visit, the more likely you will find useful things. Luckily the kids both love it, they get "new" toys for a low price tag. I don't feel bad for getting rid of said toy after their time is done in our house.

Sometimes a visit is a total bust, and that's okay too.

Thom has posted about successful finds in the past.

During pregnancy, it was the maternity section that got me through the seasons while sporting a Hadley bump.

Our recent trip was mostly unsuccessful at first. We stopped after some stops in town. Shortly after entering the store, Sefton had to use the restroom. Unfortunately the store has closed their restroom to customers, so we had to make our browsing quick. We found a soccer ball for the kids to play outside (retail, those things are surprisingly costly!) Hadley found a Bearenstein Bears book, and Sefton was excited to score some real utensils, cups, plates, and a mixing bowl for his under-construction-playhouse. While Thom was with the littles checking out (remember, we are in a 6yo needs to go, situation) I quickly swung over to the womens outdoor clothing rack near the cash registers. I spotted a longsleeve Smartwool top and grabbed it without even reading the price. I could feel that the wool was new and I wanted it. It was even a size too big, but it's Smartwool! A few pieces further on the rack there was another top! Then another! I grabbed both, glancing back the cashier was still scanning our items, I looked further down the rack and together were THREE more smart wool tops, all feeling soft and new. I snatched up all of them and brought them to the register to check out.

Each top was only marked for $4.99/ea. Apparently whichever employee priced these, had no clue what they had.

I considered consigning these to Colchuck Consignment on our account and making a few extra dollars. But no. These are mine. All mine.

I basically bought $520 MRSP of Smartwool base layers for $30.

One Smartwool NTS Mid-250 Pattern Crew (no longer in stock, but the same) MSRP $110
Two Smartwool S Striped Classic All-Season Merino Crew (again no longer these colors) MSRP $90
