Record snowfall… take 2.

Last week it snowed. A lot. Yep, it's the middle of April. From The Wenatchee World:

In the last 87 years, the National Weather Service has recorded a little more than a dusting of snow for April in Wenatchee. And then this week happened.

Wednesday alone set a new record for snow accumulation in April.

The Weather Service has two stations in the city of Wenatchee where it tracks “official” temperatures and measurements: one at the water plant along the Columbia River and another near John Newberry Elementary School.

In April 1935, the water plant recorded a record month of snowfall: 0.5 inches, according to meteorologist Miranda Cote. Its counterpart uphill, called the experimental station, has never recorded more than a tenth of an inch in April.

Both monthly records were obliterated Thursday.

We measured about 10" in places. I heard others got as much as 18". Mission Ridge, although it had closed the weekend before, got four feet of snow. Waking up last Thursday was pretty awesome.

Especially given the fact that, yeah, it's the middle of April.

That's a lot different than the view was back on ol' March 6. Maybe most surprisingly, S got to use the shovel we found for him at Goodwill a month or so ago. We assumed he wouldn't get to break it in until next winter. We were wrong.

This was, in fact, another record snowfall. Not 24" overnight like back in January, but this much snow in Wenatchee during the month of April. It was a pretty sweet surprise.
