Installed!

Yep, that's a Seinfeld reference. We moved in with a table and chair set from IKEA. It got a little use on our balcony before we ended up finding some furniture on clearance at Target. It's sat, folded up and tucked under our roofline, ever since.

Until today.

I got a hankering to haul it down from our balcony storage, then up to the top of our cistern.

Boom. Installed.

This house was, in its heyday, an apple orchard house. We think the water cistern up on the hill behind it was used for irrigation. Nowadays it's empty. We have some big plans for it.

It's about 7' tall inside. First step will be digging out a corner of it so we can cut out a hole for a door. Then clad the concrete sides with a cedar veneer. Then, the pièce de résistance… a sitting area on the top. Right now, we envision resurfacing it and stamping the concrete before building a modern pergola, complete with a sliding wall on the north side to open for the view and close for the wind. Oh, and a concrete fire bowl with, of course, lots of seating.

Somewhat ambitious, yes. We don't have a timeline, so for now… we have a table, two chairs, and a firepit. It's a pretty sweet spot to enjoy a cup of coffee.
