Sprinter van: Fuel filter change

When I bought a bunch of random parts from Bryce, I also picked up an air filter, a couple of oil filters, and a fuel filter. Today was the day to change the oil along with the oil and fuel filters.

It was a super-straightforward job. With the couple of things I've done on this 5-cylinder diesel, I'm really enjoying working on it. There seems to be plenty of space for stuff, and those German engineers did a seemingly good job of making sense of everything when designing it.

The tools this job took were simple:
  1. 5mm hex bit (I used a stubby DeWalt ratching driver which fit the space nicely)
  2. T20 Torx bit
  3. Small flathead screwdriver
  4. Something to peel off the O-rings on the sensor (I used an awl)
  5. Iced coffee (it was 97º after all)
The job took roughly ten minutes. This video was super-helpful. Next time it'll take five. Now our van has nine-and-a-half quarts of new 0W-40 synthetic oil, a new oil filter, and a new fuel filter. Who knows the last time any of those were changed.

Next up: brakes (or glow plugs, but probably brakes)
