Palette No. 2.
In addition to various paint palettes, we've been looking outside around our house for ideas. The eastern side of the Cascades is a very (very) different landscape than the west. In Tacoma, the forests and foliage were green-soaked, mossy. Dark and bright at the same time. Saturated. Deep green needles or bright, explosive rhododendrons. Here, in the dry, desert sun within view of the Cascade crest, in the shadow of the Columbia River valley, it's much different. Open, expansive. Green for a couple of months, then golden, then frozen. The colors are muted, gorgeous.
Reds, greens, golds. Sage, blueberries, balsamroot. Snow and sky. Lights and darks.
